A mixed lot only becomes revenue once the items are presented in a recognisable and appealing way, online or at the market. With return and overstock goods, clear presentation matters even more, because every piece can be slightly different.
Set Up a Fixed Photo Spot
Anyone who regularly sorts lots gains the most time from a fixed place where photography always happens. A table by a window, a neutral background and a simple light source are enough in practice. Because the set-up does not have to be rebuilt every time, you can carry straight on as soon as a box has been sorted.
Use the same sequence for every item: an overview shot, a close-up of the brand or model number, and a photo of any signs of use or missing parts. That last category is often skipped, while it is precisely those photos that prevent disputes with buyers later on.
Describe the Condition as You Find It
With items from return streams, the condition differs from piece to piece. So describe what you actually see: has the packaging been opened, is the manual missing, is there a scratch on the housing? A short, factual list works better than general terms such as 'as good as new'.
Also state clearly whether an item has been tested or not. If you resell untested electronics, mention that explicitly in the listing and take it into account in your pricing. Buyers who know in advance what they are getting complain less afterwards.
Write Titles That Get Found
A good title contains the brand, the type or model number, the key feature and the condition. Buyers who are searching rarely type in general descriptions; they search by brand and model. If the model number is on the item or the packaging, copy it across literally.
Add the information the buyer needs to decide: dimensions, colour, included accessories and condition. Do not copy full manufacturer texts, but describe the item as it sits on your shelf.
Work in Batches With Fixed Templates
Process items by category rather than by box. Photograph all electronics accessories first, then all kitchen items, then the rest. That way you do not have to keep adjusting your set-up and settings, and you work considerably faster.
Create a description template per category, with fixed headings for condition, package contents and shipping information. You then only fill in the item-specific details. That saves time and gives your listings a consistent impression, which benefits the trust of returning buyers.
A consistent working method for photos and descriptions makes processing mixed lots more predictable and limits follow-up questions. Take a look at our current range on the product pages, or get in touch if you would like to discuss which lot suits your sales channel.
