We regularly get asked: how do I get started as a new reseller buying wholesale lots? In this article, we outline the most important steps.
Step 1: determine your sales channel
Before you purchase, it's good to know where you will resell the items: at a market, through a webshop, in an outlet store, or via an online marketplace. This also helps determine which type of lot (for example electronics-focused, mixed, or smaller items) best suits you.
Step 2: start small and test
There is no fixed minimum for our regular catalogue priced per kilogram, which makes it an accessible starting point for testing different product lines. For our Full Truck lots, such as Amazon Overstock Boxes and the Amazon Mystery Box, a higher minimum order quantity applies in exchange for a sharper price per kilogram.
Work out a business case in advance: what does the lot cost per kilogram, what are the expected shipping costs, and at what average price do you think you can resell the items?
Step 3: set aside time for sorting
Mixed lots require their own sorting and inspection process after delivery. Set aside sufficient time and space for this, especially for your first orders, so that you get a good sense of how long this process actually takes in practice.
Step 4: build a relationship with your supplier
Stock and composition change regularly. By staying in touch with our team, you'll be notified sooner when a lot becomes available that matches what you're looking for, and we can look together at recurring deliveries as your volume grows.
